Thanks, Bendra for the info! I’m glad you’re not having any problems. Hopefully, tcodara will check in and provide an update.
Actual information on Claravox
Hi there!
The issue still persists. If the Theremin is on for approximately 30 minutes, it becomes playable, otherwise, no sound.
I’ve been chatting with MOOG and sharing videos. I was apprehensive to just ship the instrument back without a replacement, and if at all possible, I’d like to keep the serial number I have. Waiting for an update from their team.
They may send a tech up to NYC to take a look at it, and they are definitely curious/concerned with the issue - which I appreciate! At least I’m not being brushed off.
More to come.
Hi, I just received the Claravox n°11 in France.
Nice. However, as I mentioned before, I have very good reason to believe that Moog only shipped out ~30 instruments - no more. As you received #11, yours appears to be part of the original 30. Congratulations just the same!
A recent communication I’ve received from Moog claims they still don’t have all the parts to make more and they’ve also indicated that there may be problems with some of the initial 30 in their “pilot production.”
Those of us who have not received our instruments shouldn’t get our hopes up that we’ll receive them anytime soon.
Please keep us posted on your experiences with the Claravox. Again, congratulations for getting yours!
As you should king, that was a g o r g e o u s sound brother! Really dynamic and unique, especially considering you improvised that!
Well done!
So, I worked with an engineer from MOOG yesterday and they were pretty sure it’s a hardware issue, or a loose wire, but went through a few troubleshooting steps:
1. We plugged the amp into the tuner port - it should have been one long sustained tone that came out, but instead, it was an *extremely* loud beep that would repeat about every 4-5 seconds. Even with the amp switched off, the beep was still coming through - super strange.
2. Next we tried the headphones Jack (but not with headphones), and this actually produced a sound which was nice.
3. We then went back to the audio out port and it started working.
I am going to continue to test the instrument but it will likely have to go back for some sort of repair. They offered to send me the parts and the instructions and allow me to do the repair, but that’s not happening…
I did receive the Claravox stand today, and I popped the theremin on it (it does lower enough in case you sit and play like I do!) and the theremin worked right away.
Will continue to post updates
