I've had a few requests from people who want to enter the contests but don't have recording gear. They're looking for an introductory article on digital recording with a PC or Mac.

Perhaps one of our regular contest entrants would like to write an article for ThereminWorld? If so, please e-mail me (jason[at]thereminworld.com) and we'll chat about the details.

I'll do one for Windows 2000/XP - give me a few weeks!

Any takers for a Mac-oriented article?

i do alot of audio recording, but have little time on my hands to write articles, i could however be able to trouble shoot for anyone if say a forum thread were set-up for that purpose.

i'm assuming people making requests are after a straight forward solution, and don't wish to navigate around, or pay for professional audio packages, so the results needed could be obtained from these free programs:

available for PC and mac:

pc only:

if you wish to record multi-track audio along to midi backing:

finally a couple of sites with tips, etc:
the real deal, check the articles link on the left: http://www.digido.com/

more accessible: http://www.pcmus.com/

i personally spend too much time at http://www.kvraudio.com, which has a very active forum and is a web centre for many audio software developers.

i hope these may be of some use, i've restricted it to freeware and kept it narrow to avoid swamping.
