Hi, I'm looking for a vintage Theremin for a short film and wondered if anyone can help. I am submitting a short script to a Film London competition, which strongly features an RCA Theremin. It may be an option to have a mock-up built due to the obvious value of these instruments, but I wondered if anyone may have one and would be prepared to loan their pride and joy to us for the film, which will be based in London. We can obviously cover expenses, transport and insurance.

Also, the soundtrack will be an original score with a strong emphasis on the Theremin, so I need to find someone who plays exceptionally well and also someone who could be a consultant on set. The film is only low budget but expenses can be covered and I think it will be a really great experience. I hope it will become a cult Theremin film too! Thanks

Hi Rebecca,

I live in Bristol and am happy to work on something in London. I think your best bet would be to have a mockup built but I do believe there are a couple of people in London who own RCAs.

You can listen to my music here (http://www.myspace.com/alexanderthomasmusic) and see if it's what you're looking for. I'm trying to get as much soundtrack work as possible at the moment so I'm happy to work for expenses only. If my playing isn't quite what you're after at the moment, no worries :)

Hi Rebecca

There are a couple of RCA's in the care of the Musical Museum in Brentford.

The museum is closed at the moment while they move to a new location, but I believe they are due to reopen sometime soon.

Hello,

You can try to contact "Chaparra Entertainment" (http://www.chaparraentertainment.com/) in Barcelona. They made that short film "Martians go home" featuring a well-known artist in Spain "playing" an imitation of an RCA. The real player was Jairo Moreno.

I know they made an RCA imitation from scratch, maybe you can ask them about it. It would be your best bet to have an atrezzo Theremin.

Another option is to buy an RCA-like theremin from thereminargentina, but it depends on how quick you need it.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I think I've found an original one in the U.K but good to hear about other options and also check out other Theremin films!
