I am at an internet cafe in Waterloo - "Into the Ether" is running at the Royal Festival Hall until Wednesday, and I have been staying in London and taking people through the basics of Theremin operation etc since Sat 17th.

This has been a wonderful event - and I have met many wonderful creative ecentric people - creators of wierd and wonderful musical instruments and musical sculptures.

I have 16 half-Theremins (pitch only) spaced about 3m apart in a zig-zag across the Clore ballroom (visable from the main entrance to the Royal Festival Hall) and these are all accessable to the public - most people wander in, and have never heard of or seen a Theremin.. I would estimate that (averaged) about 500 people get to 'play' the Theremin for the first time each day - I watch and approach those who seem really interested, and give them a basic introduction .. The Theremins have been by far the most used of all the exhibits.

To anyone who has tried to contact me (some people had planned to meet me) I am real sorry that I have been out-of-contact.. A couple of minor disasters happened - I lost my mobile phone, and my laptop died.. All the contact details I had stored were lost.

There are a few days left - I will be with "my" Theremins from 4pm to 10pm until Wednesday (I am usually there from about 11am but cannot gaurantee this)

Fred.
