Don’t get discouraged.  I bet your notes are coming faster than when learning violin.  I love my etherwave and the connection to your instrument will come quickly.  You will feel notes in the air.  Relax have fun. Your enthusiasm with the Theremin is shared by me and many others. It will only grow if you breath, relax, listen to your instrument and enjoy the most intimate musical experience only a theremin can provide.  You and the Theremin join to produce a tone that is totally in your control.  This is the challenge and the beauty of the Theremin.  I stand with left arm at side straight in front of volume antenna. I then right hand out to where my wrist goes to pitch antenna. I rough tune by putting zero beat where I lean back a bit with arm at side. Then open close octave in middle range fine tune.     Play with joy.  I know you will do great.  Have fun. Thanks

Thank you so much for the encouragement and for sharing your playing stance and approach! It’s really helpful to hear how you position yourself and tune the zero beat—especially the idea of leaning back a bit and fine-tuning in the middle range. I really appreciate the reminder to relax, breathe, and enjoy the process. It’s easy to get caught up in the challenge, but you’re absolutely right—this connection with the theremin is such a unique and rewarding experience. I’ll definitely keep your advice in mind as I keep practicing and exploring. Thanks again for the support!

Thanks for your comments.

Wow, his videos are amazing. He is so graceful, and stands so close to the theremin. It sounds like a violin or a voice. And he doesn't use the finger positions I'm used to seeing everyone use. Probably because he has big hands like me. I was using his style with my eyes closed earlier and it seemed to be more comfortable for me. I just have to figure out a style that works and practice it!

Always tune the same and notes will come quickly.  You can only gain muscle memory if you practice daily, if possible, and always tune the same. Check tuning if notes are off as fields change a lot as etherwave warms up. Notes will come quickly as you practice.
Have fun.  You are just starting. Notes will come.

P.s. if you want to trade off the LV-4 I have many instruments and would love one as a travel Theremin.
Thanks

Tuning seems to be my issue. Some say to tune the zero beat behind me (instead of at my shoulder), because of my arm length and hand size. When I do that, I seem to be able to hit notes easier. But then things get wonky, since I can't use traditional hand positions. I end up just moving my hand / arm forward and backward and move my fingers / knuckles. I'm able to play a song, not perfectly in tune, but I can play it.

I just want to make sure I'm not making a mistake playing like this. I think the tuning still isn't right. I have to figure it out.

My LV-4 is back in the shipping box packed away, ready to ship. I have it listed for sale on Reverb and FB market, lots of views, no messages / offers yet. I may either list it on eBay, or just keep and see if I'm able to play it. I struggled with the LV-4 way more than the EW. But that was my first try. So maybe I can give it a go again. Just curious, what instruments would you trade it for?

Many instruments.  Pro accordion, many amps, guitars, effects, flutes, sitar my wife wants me to get rid of because it takes up lots of space. Hand drums and many others.
Thanks
