Hey everyone,
I've finally completed (on a piece of plywood)my replica of a AR-1264 thanks in large part to Mark McKeown and Arthur Harrison. With the help of my boss I got the think to make some noise but I have a couple of things bothering me.
1) the 1000pF capacitor used in the pitch oscillators didn't work. I had to lower the capacitance significantly to get any noise. I measured my oscillators at about 250k instead of the stated 170k or so. Can anyone explain this?
2) More importantly, i have what has been described to me as a bad sine wave sound, especially in the bass. I've changed tubes out and tried putting variable resistors (per the Clara Rockmore Schematic) in there and I'm at a loss. My theremin doesn't have the nice cello sound in the lower end that I hear in some recordings I've listened to.
Can anyone help me on either count.
P.S. I've been practicing anyway. This stuff is fun.
