Theremax volume antenna size?

I want to add a volume antenna to my Theremax which is a little more substantial than the wire one bundled with the kit.

I'm thinking of using some 8mm gas pipe bent up so it's the same size as the RCA antenna the drawings of which are available on this web site.

Simple question: That antenna is a good bit larger than the one paia provided. Could that potentially cause problems? Should I reduce the size a little?

Thanks.

MM-

Aside from perhaps needing to adjust the volume trim and/or the L3 coil to the new antenna, I don't anticipate that you'll run into any problems. The Theremax seems quite flexible to whatever is hooked up to it.
I'm using a 3/8 solid brass pitch antenna (approx. 17", similar to the RCA antenna size) and I've run into no problems with this, so I don't see why there would be any problem with the volume antenna, providing you have sufficient space between the volume and pitch rods.

At the moment I'm using a metal plate for the volume.

Thanks.
My antenna will be protruding out each side of an old 14 inch wide plywood scientific instrament box.

That's just about the width that my antennae are spread.
I'm using a makeshift wooden case for mine at the moment, and will soon build something a bit nicer. In the meantime, I'm gathering a clearer idea as to how to better design a case that is most ergonomically comfortable to my playing.
Ever since I've gotten the Theremax up and running, I've been compelled to ditch some earlier, grand design plans that I originally had in mind(lol).
