Help building Moog Theremin based on 1996 Article in eMusician

Hello,
I am constructing a Theremin based upon a 1996 article in eMusician by Robert Moog. Has anyone ever built one of these, does it work good, did you encounter any difficulties building it? I would really appreciate hearing about any other of these machines. Thanks in advance. Robert

Has anyone built one of these units from the February 1996 article? Did it work well?

If anyone is building one we are having difficulties obtaining parts. The inductors are on a three month back order. Are you experiencing similar problems, (where ary you getting your parts from)?

Did anyone think of making an etched board in lieu of a project board? If anyone has a template could you publish it?

I have not played any other theremins but the
EM theremin seems to work well. You do need
to connect your power supply return to earth
ground.

Which inductors are you having problems getting?
I purchased inductors (probably last year)
from Digikey.

I did an SMD PCB layout for the pitch oscillator
section of the EM Theremin. I changed the biasing
to run off a +-5V supply and added a small switching supply to the board. I also added a Maxim MAX9770 amplifier IC which is a 1.2W Class D amplifier with a headphone and speaker output.
