I'm using a Fender Princeton 112 Deluxe guitar amp (65 watt, transistor) with my Paia Theremax. Works great! The Fender has a brilliant clean sound and an exellent reverb (at least with a guitar, but certainly also with theremin). While practising with my band i just plug the theremin into the PA system, a Peavy 300 watt powered mixer, and its sounds ok. But the Fender sound better... Since i have a Paia Theremax i don't realy know how an other Theremin sounds on my gear, but it's worth to try!

Anyone find ways to get the "traditional" behind the head or a little higher speaker position or know anyone making them?
Saw Peter Pringle uses a photo tripod and what I guess is some sort of custom mounting for the un-cased speaker.
It does make a lot of sense for hearing yourself (maybe even a millisecond before the audience) and projecting high over other players.

I like the looks of the classic diamond speakers but the same result can be obtained with any number of personal monitors that are out there. Many of them are quite small and come with a stand to bring it up close to the player's head.

Jason has a nice article posted (in the articles section) about building your own "diamond" type speaker out of a guitar amp. It is a nice design - you can check it out here:

I use a Vox guitar amp - it sounds great with my Moog and my Theremax theremins ( I was also suprised to see it is the same amp that Pamelia Kurstin is using).

I would like to mount my guitar amp onto a stand to place it behind me. Has anyone done this? (I think a mike stand would be a bit too small). Any tips would be appreciated!

Floyd Engels in NY builds reproductions of the original diamond-shaped speakers. I'm not sure what they cost, but I can try to dig up his contact info if anyone is interested. His work is exquisite.
