Ok, so I am looking for this: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1606.html

It's a freeware sliding pitch to MIDI control VST, and I'd like it for fun stuff with the theremin. The website on which it was hosted seems to have vanished off the face of the earth after last year. If anyone has a copy of this freeware, or can direct me to a mirror of it, it'd be greatly appreciated. I've been searching for a while now and have had no luck.

I went there. I saw it. I was running a firewall.
I could not download it. I did not try without a firewall, but I bet I could if I turned my firewall off. I guess I did not want to chance a computer infection incident over something I did not really want.
Sometimes firewalls can be annoying in their anality. If you are running an internet security suite on you computer, downloading from suspect websites gets 'squeezed out'--- forgive my pun.
Assess how badly you want that VST and then shut off your computer's internet protection software and/or firewall, and if you personally decide that this an acceptable risk: "sally forth"!!
I, teslatheremin, take no responsibility for any consequences for your decision to download any software based on my personal experience and observations about internet security software programs from any manufacturer, or the use, or non-use, of any firewall.
Good Luck!

It doesn't have anything to do with a firewall. The file itself just doesn't exist. That makes me sad. D:

I was posting on the off chance someone had it and would upload it, or maybe knew a far-off corner of the internet where it was still hosted. Klanglabs disappeared, and all their VSTs went with it.

This (http://www.maraca.info/spyro/klanglabs/freebies/freebies.htm) is the page that your link goes to if you click download from it. That page has a link for Synodeia V1 (http://www.maraca.info/spyro/klanglabs/freebies/synodeia/synodeia.htm) and Synodeia V2 (http://www.maraca.info/spyro/klanglabs/freebies/synodeia2/synodeia2.htm), both of which downloaded for me with no problem. My firewall does happen to be disabled, because I am behind a router that handles that, if it matters.

Now all I need is to research how to use VST Plugins! I looked into it briefly before, but was put off at the seemingly un-straight forward process, and didn't want to load anything more onto my laptop than I needed to, but now I have my new desktop! Does anyone have any tips or resources for a novice like me?

You sir, are the rockinest. Thanks for that link. To use a VST, you must have a VST host. Many music producing programs such as Cubase, Ableton Live, Audition, Reason, and FL Studio can load VSTs, which are virtual instruments or effects.

There is a free VST host called (not surprisingly) VSTHost, but one can't do much with it other than play around with VST synthesizers in it. :P

For this particular case, you use Sinodeia to convert your theremin signals into midi controls. You connect your theremin to a computer via a PCI, Firewire, or USB audio interface, and then direct the input to Synodeia, which you then it to a MIDI plugin.

I'm not quite sure how to do all that yet though because I just downloaded Synodeia. :P

EDIT: So it turns out it can only translate notes when they have spaces between them, making it totally useless for anything with a sliding pitch.

Which is ironic because I'm fairly sure sliding pitch inputs are what it was made for.

Aah, that's too bad! I would've loved to get a cool, smooth Theremin-type organic motion with a Midi/synth sound.

I guess the only way for me to do this would be to track down an E-Pro, get a PAiA Theremax, or buy this MIDI/CV Interface (http://home.earthlink.net/~wavefront/midi.html). Has anyone tried the Wavefront MIDI/CV Interface? If so, is it worth more than an E-Standard? Will a PAiA Theremax do all of these things that I mention above, while having a nice, playable field?
