I am thinking of putting this up on e-bay. I just added the battery adaptor and made sure the thing is functional. Wanted to let you know here first in case any one is interested in buying it or has advice as to how to best market it or sell it.

It is definitely cool antique piece/coleectors item worth a lot. But as far as theremins go, it is just okay. I even have the original box it was mailed to its previous owner in with Moogs logo. I wonder if that makes it worth any more.

Thanks for all the help and advice I have gotten here.

You have been watching too much ANTIQUES ROADSHOW. Toy experts will often point out that a particular item - Barbie doll or Superman suit - is worth more because it still has its original box (sometimes the box is worth even more than the toy itself). The reason for this is that there are thousands of toy collectors all vying for the same mint condition collectibles.

Unfortunately, there are not enough theremin collectors to create a real market in which buyers compete with one another for the best and rarest items. John Wayne's green beret, which he wore in the 1968 movie THE GREEN BERETS, just fetched $180,000.00 at auction. It's a worthless piece of felt but it is more valuable than any theremin in the world because there are lots of very wealthy people who want it.

I wonder how much the green beret would have been worth if it still had its original box?

I think the green Beret came in a bag rather than a box... What do you think? Or maybe it was made especially by one exceptional felter that never got his/her 5 minutes of fame ;)

Felting is VERY time consuming... You have to boil the wool and then shape it... It's fun though!

Well, I wasn't sure about the box. But I had heard of a post here where something was more colectible because of some sort of original component or whatever. But I do think that this theremin is somewhat sought after and I am looking to sell it in the ballpark of 600, or a trade for like 400 and some other theremin. I do believe that I have seen this particular theremin sell in that ball park or read that it can go for that much.
