When I bought my Etherwave Plus from Thomann back in Christmas 2010, I paid 398 euros. Now I checked their page and the price for the same theremin is no less than 512 euros. Even the plain Moog Etherwave (without plus) is now 491!
I have checked other online stores and the trend tends to be the same, the price for the plus is now above 500 euros in all European stores, about 25%-30% more than when I bought it. Has the same happened in the US?
I still have mine and it works fine so this is just a curiosity, but I wonder why they have increased the price so much. Inflation doesn't explain an over 25% price hike, and from what I've seen the euro-dollar exchange rate hasn't changed that much in these years. From a business standpoint it doesn't seem to make much sense to do this in the middle of an economic crisis. I think this is likely to boost the popularity of Burns theremins a lot...
