Pitch antenna not responding

Hi all, 

Total noob here. Just finished building a Moog Etherwave theremin kit and the pitch antenna is not responding. I get a constant pitch no matter how near or far I position my hand. Volume antenna is working as expected.

I've tried different surfaces and a mic stand to no avail. Twiddling the pitch knob or tuning via the red plastic stick affects the pitch but regular playing movement does not. 

Any advice as I troubleshoot?

Do you get a pitch change when you touch the pitch antenna?

I'd take a DMM to the large EQ coils on the pitch side to see if any of them are open (test for resistance).  They are quite fragile and should have more durable outer coating than varnish IMO.  When I order them from Digikey they typically arrive all jumbled together in a bag with several non-functioning due to the rock polishing they got in transit.

Thanks, Dewster! That's a bit out of my technical depth, but I'll order a Digital Multimeter (had to look up DMM) and give it a try. Really appreciate the tips!
