korg tm50

One of the things I liked about the Theremini was the built-in pitch indicator.  The Korg TM-50 above fills that bill, and sits on my EWS without causing any type of interference. A bonus is that it's inexpensive, $21.00 @ Amazon: https://goo.gl/2UkDji

There are complaints about the metronome being inaudible over an instrument, but I'm not using the metronome anyway...

jocala, what do you use it for?  Getting your starting pitch?  I assume it's probably too slow to use much when you are actually playing?

dewster, I've been using it for starting pitch and practicing moving between octaves. It does seem to keep up with my playing, but at this point I'm just doing simple scales and beginner melodies, e.g. London Bridge, America, Frere Jacques, etc. Nothing at all that would test its response speed.

I thought for sure it would interfere with the theremin, but no, so color me surprised.

jocala, does it take a lot of time deciding to switch notes?  I've got a Planet Waves tuner (PW-CT-07) and it tends to stick to the last note - though that's when using the internal microphone with an acoustic guitar, it might be more responsive via line-in.

Did you own a Theremini at one point?

I started with a Theremini and sent it back after a week. I found that the internal speaker did quite a bit of buzzing at loud volumes.

The TM-50 response seems pretty fast to me. It moves instantly when I move my hand. I don't notice any stalling or sticking.

I'm just using the internal mic, it does have an 1/4 input jack, but I haven't used it. You can see the user's manual here:

Edit: I find that when playing quickly, this tuner does lag a bit.
