Moog Etherwave Warm Up Time

In the video listed below, Thomas Grillo says that he warms up his Moog Etherwave 10-15 minutes because when it's first turned on, the pitch field is very compacted so a hand motion that would be normally one octave is almost two octaves.

I have not been paying attention to this on mine.

Does anyone else notice this?

As a secondary note, I don't know how he does that -- leaves the instrument on -- without it randomly playing sounds as people walk by.

If you notice around 2:30 he loops the audio cord over the volume antenna, which mutes it and allows him to walk away from it.  That's fairly standard practice for the EW.

I wish I lived in Halifax!  We visited several years ago, made a loop drive around the shores of Nova Scotia, really quite beautiful up there.  All that and nationalized healthcare...
