Hey all!

My Etherwave came with a stand - it's an old, old mic stand; even when retracted, it's a little too tall, and the base weighs like 20 pounds and it is not appropriate for taking out e.g. busking or even to lug to a gig which I would like to do some day.

If you have a lightweight, not too expensive stand you're happy with for your EW, please post a link here.

Most people just use a microphone stand.
I also use a simple mic stand and modified it to make it lower. I  sawed the outer tube through at 10 cm and 20 cm from the bottom, removed the middle piece and connected the remaining parts together again.
10 cm lower is perfect for me.

I agree with v7peer's approach, get a quality 3 legged mic stand that's too tall and saw it down - you can usually just saw the bottom end off of the outer and inner tubes, the leg unit is really just an clamp-on accessory.  A while ago I aggressively shopped for "intermediate" height mic stands and came up empty.

That said, I'm currently using the unmodified bottom half of a boom mic stand, I believe it's this one:

If you lower the center pole all the way to the floor the minimum height comes out to 34" or so, which is just about right for my D-Lev prototype (you may want it a shade lower for an EW if you are short).

I'm using a K&M 3 legged mic stand (I don't know the exact type), but I'm in Europe, there may be similar quality mic stands available in Canada and USA for somewhat lower price. It is not very heavy, but also not super light weight. A too light and flimsy mic stand could make the setup too wobbly I think.
I've got the stand at 95 cm height now, and it could be set about 10-12 cm lower
