[justify]I am a descendent of German Lutherans (called Salzburgers as most migrations came from that area) banished from Germany/Austria during the early to mid 1700s. My family arrived in 1750. I am 9th generation. Well, I've always kept tabs on the Georgia Salzburger Society there and my family has a memorial stone erected in the colonial era cemetery. The society invited me to play music for them this past Saturday, Dec 4th, 2021. My daughter, Sarah, accompanied me. Now, I haven't performed in public for at least 5 years. I was on my feet most of the day and even played along with a pianist from another group. Frankly, today I feel like a couple of thugs worked me over.[/justify]
[justify]AFTER ACTION REPORT (AAR): All comments were complimentary. Was it worth it? Yes! A very elderly and frail lady (also of Salzburger descent), I'd say in her 80s, came up and wanted to try out my Kepp Theremin, Gabriella. After showing her how she worked, I positioned her hands gently around the aerials. The look of pure fun and joy on her face made my day and I told the lady that. The local newspaper is going to run a piece on me. I could NOT get the reporter to try out the theremin. Some folks just will not do this. Part of the theremin movement is based on how many adults and kids you allow to play....and there were plenty yesterday.
