Dominik you are bringing up old arguments, those were fun days, and then we got old.

What Lev Sergeyevich Termen discovered is how heterodyning two Radio Frequencies together would replicate the RF wave shape in the audio range achieving an almost vocal or angelic like sound.

An analog theremin operating at 300 kHz generates instantaneously a Radio Wave of about 1000 meters in length which is why the electronic circuit needs good conductivity reaching into Mother Earth to minimize wave distortion.

With digital theremins, the Theremin phenomenon or the voice is completely “Aborted”. Then the sound is “artificially” recreated which is why I say get a sound sample to compare or hear the difference. Both approaches appeal to someone.

Thanks for that Dominik!  Not a day goes by I don't contemplate antenna shielding.  Lordy I miss FredM, he had a lot to contribute and did so selflessly (no good deed goes unpunished around here ^^^ ).

As for grounding to the earth and/or directly to the player's body, I think it must be a complex subject, though it might boil down to something rather simpler.  With a only direct body connection, mutual C would be similar to the grounded situation, but mutual partially subtracts from intrinsic C, much of which would be floating.  Without FEA and experimenting, I dunno and can't even guess in an educated manner.

All this theremin talk gets me excited again. I can no longer sit at table and solder but I still have dreams. I had never met a Thereminist on my twenty year journey yet I knew I was on the right path. The first time I heard my design played is after it arrived in St Petersburg Russia. This is the gift Valery Shamarin and Peter Theremin returned to me.

A Bit of Trivia: Why the musical notes seem on target is the natural Theremin Phenomenon has the ideal pitch field linearity a classic Thereminist hopes for. If ever you see the video of this performance Valery Shamarin in playing my two transistor circuit board sitting on top of the box I shipped it in. The Theremin Phenomenon by Nature is perfect, just add a volume control and then you have the Theremin Invention. Let us not lose touch with the authentic Theremin Phenomenon.

As old people now my just getting to bed at night knowing I did not poop or pee on myself that day is quite an accomplishment.
