ILYA your theremin design is refreshing as I always recognized you as special. The date you joined TW 11/13 is my birthday, hoping I make it to another one.
You said “The coil core can be taken from old AM radio”
That is the creativity I always enjoyed.
Lev Sergeyevich’s later theremins were built using parts from the toy department (Detskii Mir) in Moscow and at that time nobody in Moscow was interested in his work.
He actually slept in the attic of his lab and had a pet mouse which he trained to come out to the certain tone of the Theremin!
A well done authentic theremin build or with a good theremin performance people often refer to as “they were invited”, those that achieve this level understand exactly what I am talking about. Self Portrait - I have never owned a cellphone of any type as I am rebellious against where this modern age is headed and of social media. This is my selfy in the bathroom mirror. That guy is 75 years old, very generous and lives in the peace of the Great One.
This could be the finest authentic theremin performance ever achieved, and demonstrates how the theremin should be played which is not musical note popping on a child's digital toy. This performing artist today is distant holding onto the volume loop.

This artist is Peter Pringle playing the Samuel Hoffman theremin, the same one that was the sound of Gort in the original 1951 “The Day the Earth Stood Still”.
