The best method for me today was to stop thinking...

That makes a lot of sense. Hitting the note happens faster than the speed of thought. It's like anything that needs instantaneous response - riding a bicycle for instance. It's funny to watch someone on a bike for the first time, gripping the handlebar as tightly as possible and pedalling very, very slowly, with a look of grim determination and sheer panic, wavering all over the place. The brain just gets in the way.

Hello Gordon,
yes, i absolutely agree. Armed with this new knowledge, i worked a little bit more tonight and tried to play a Theremin voice without a melody as an arrangement of Pink Floyds "Great Gig in the Sky"

Hi Arthur,

Great choice of music! Last night I downloaded your mp3 and listened to it five times in a row. I enjoyed it a lot.

It starts a little weak, but at about half a minute in you get into your groove. By the end it's really humming! Excellent.

Hello Gordon,
just shortly about how i arranged the thing:
first i recorded three improvisation tracks on the Kees, while listening to the background midi.
Afterwards i combined them using Audacity, (by the way it is brilliant freeware!!!).
But i found out that with three Theremin Tracks it was too overloaded, so i decided to drop one and now the tune consists only of two Kees Theremin Tracks and a background Midi of the Pink Floyd song, slightly modified with volume.
That´s all.

I know the start is a little bit weak, but in the Pink Floyd song, the momentum of tension is also built up by a slow , weak start and an abrupt change when the percussion (drums)starts to play.
I can send you the background midi if you like, i would be interested in your interpretation of the song.
As you remember the original song vocal is a Jazz singer with a fantastic voice. Today i will listen to the original song with vocals, maybe it´s possible to let the Theremin sound like that. This should be possible in my opinion.

Best regards
arthur

Hmm. Interesting. By all means send me a copy. I'm not entirely sure when I'll get chance to play with it, and I'll only post the outcome if I'm happy with it.
