I opened my B3 and had a short look inside. There is no printed board - it´s all "free-fly" wired and assembled with lots of thermal glue...

I think that any modding would be rather difficult. At a first glance I could not recognize one of the well-known circuits.

Putting it in another case will ask mostly soldering and glueing skills, but it may be worth a try.

BTW: There is a Kees for sale on ebay - item # 300212914620, actually 90 GBP...

Another analogue pitch and volume theremin (Superscope T3) from a german manufacturer (no idea what's inside) on ebay # 190212670226, actually 81 EUR

Wow! Subscope seem to have some nice looking theremins on their website...

http://www.subscope.de/theremin/theremin.html

Not a lot of info, but photos and audio clips are very enticing.

(They could well be based on the ultimate 2b. See here:

http://www.oldtemecula.com/theremin/library/index.htm

Subcope appears towards the bottom of the page - Dominik.)

Edit: I thought this was familiar. Dominik (http://www.thereminworld.com/profile.asp?_id=1875) posted on the TW forums a bit at the end of 2007. Dominik? Are you still around? Hello?

Wow, that Kees would be a nice buy. And about that subscope, does anyone know something about it? I never really heard about it....

Just contact Dominik Bednarz via the email adress on the top left of his website...

It seems that he speaks and writes also in English.

If you encounter communication problems, please tell me and I will contact him in German.

Oh, but he's the one who sells the product, he won't tell the bad sides of it... haha

Anyway, I'll try and talk to him

I've seen on ebay that he has very positive ratings from theremin buyers. Even the "Musikschule Lippstadt" where there will be a theremin symposium in september has buyed (bought? - sorry for my bad English) one from him has written a very positive appreciation.

The problem is: he only ships to Europe. I asked him if he can ship to other places. I hope so, I don't know anyone who is currently living in Europe....

The other problem might be that they last three subscope voice T3 de luxe's sold for more than the cost of an etherwave.

About €300 = US$475 = £240

And, come September, I shall endeavour to try the Musikschule's subscope theremin and report back. And if Messrs Kavina, Buchholz, Eyck and Botermans are as happy to try out theremins as they were at Hands Off, I might be able to bring back some expert opinion too. The audio samples on his website are very encouraging. Nice to hear samples played by someone who can actually play.

Think i'll wait and see how the price of the Kees goes on the bidding. If near the closing of the auction the price is still in my range i'll bid
