Gordon, you are right - if you buy this rather expensive addon which samples the input signal with a better A/D converter externally and feeds already preprocessed digital audio data into your iDevice.

This is in fact a professional workaround of the iDevice's limited analogue audio input stages.

Finally, we are both right.

AAHH , now I got the answer, thanks a million, I thought its affecting the pitch, but I was confused 'cause I have no absolute pitch feeling and I don't feel the instrument yet, i thought the intervals were bit funny, just couldn't figure out whether its my right hand shake is the problem. TA

A pitch preview or headphone out is a big help with tuners since the mics in them are usually not very good.

I've seen freestanding (not clip)
Korg (http://www.sweetwater.com/c938--Korg--Guitar_Tuners/low2high/params=eyJkaW1lbnNpb24iOnsiQnJhbmQiOiI0Mjk0OTY3MjQxIn19)

and

tuners used by theremin players. One way to use them is to tune your theremin with the tuner in place and turned on, and then do not move the tuner while you are practicing. It may affect the field but should remain constant once you have tuned.

Good luck and KEEP ON PLAYING!
