Here's a question straying somewhat off the topic, yet it is related to the philosophy of whether moving a hand nearer the antenna/ rod changes capacitance or induction. So, if the capacitance was altered, would that mean that a theremin would only work in air or some insulating medium, and not in a vacuum. If it changed the inductance, wouldn't that meant that a theremin would indeed be able to function in a vacuum? I guess the only way to test this is take one into space :)
