Etherwave mods to case and antenna

Here's a question straying somewhat off the topic, yet it is related to the philosophy of whether moving a hand nearer the antenna/ rod changes capacitance or induction. So, if the capacitance was altered, would that mean that a theremin would only work in air or some insulating medium, and not in a vacuum. If it changed the inductance, wouldn't that meant that a theremin would indeed be able to function in a vacuum? I guess the only way to test this is take one into space :)

Dan, also a vacuum has a dielectric constant. So, supposed that the antenna-hand-system is a capacitor, your theremin will also work in the space. The pitch behavior will be slightly different from operation in air, and still different from operation in other dielectric media as pure nitrogen, oxygen, helium or even oil... ;-)
