Kees Enkelaar Sample

Hi guys! I bought a Kees Enkelaar theremin before buying my Etherwave Pro. I have just a couple of tips.

The Kees theremin requires an adapter of at least 200 mA. I'm pretty sure the tip needs to be 3.5mmm, but I'd suggest taking the theremin with you to the electronics supply store just to be sure. (Believe me, I learned that the hard way.)

You CAN use a 9V battery to operate the Kees theremin, but I don't recommend it. I've found that it drains a battery fairly quickly, and when the battery start to get just a little weak the sound quality goes down significantly. That's my experience.

Well I got my email - my first Theremin is on the way quicker than I expected. Ooh!

So the race is on - which will arrive first - Kees' theremin or Peter Pringle's DVD.

Meantime, a trip to Hooters (it's a music store in Watford) has provided a mike stand and I now know that they sell a power adaptor that will fit just about anything and a tiny little Marshall amp.

(Looks like something from a novelty gadget shop - I had the sales guy demo it for me - actually better than I expected, a pleasant hint of crispness in the high frequencies but about as much bass response as you would expect from something 10 cm tall.)

Also dug out a pair of airline headphones to see if they burst into flames when I plug them into line-out. Will report back on the results.

i ve got a problem with the mic stand. The stand doesnt fit the adapter. What kind of stand should i get? propose something.

Mine fit a standard mic stand, so I'm not sure why yours doesn't. What I would do is take it to your local music store and try it out. You might even generate a small audience while your there.

The fact is that Kees Enkelaar has used non-standard microphone mounts depending on availability. I had that problem and spoke with him about it at the time.

The "standard" microphone mount has a 5/8"-27 thread (5/8 of an inch in diameter, 27 threads per inch).

I've purchase female mountings from the company Full Compass.
