Any Alesis rackmount reverb unit is tons of fun. All kinds of crazy enjoyment to be had. I use an Alesis Nanoverb. Current favourite tricks:

-Maximum feedback w/25% effect. Slow gradual constant chord picks up over time in the fashion of a piano drone.

-Chorus/reverb setting. Straight up string sound.

I recently acquired a Boss Hyperfuzz, which though normally isn't my sort of thing, has quite a good way of sounding like a whiny wah effect during dynamic shifts.

Split your signal - have one clean and one going into an pitch-shifter (a good one, though - Boss PS-5 perhaps) and then through a few delays & long reverbs. The effect you'll get is something like a lead line backed by a string ensemble.

Thanks for the plug, Gordon.

You're welcome, Jon.

One thing I don't do on VKtRS, but have since incorporated into some other songs is a neat effect that combines the MF-101 in series with the MF-102 to create something that sounds eerily like a man's voice.

Is that the "nyah-nyah" sound in the "Happy Birthday Theremin World" video, about halfway through when the native man gets his brains electrocuted?

Exactly so. Not to be confused with the actual modulated human voice that someone else recorded for the same section.

Excellent!

What are the settings for that, please - I'm posting from the middle of a mad weekend in a house with about 20 musicians - one has moogfoogers - I want to try it out.

Gotta rush - I'm being summoned for a sound check!

Sorry, Gordon, I only just saw your post. I hope this isn't too late.

The theremin runs into the audio input of the low-pass filter; the audio out of the low-pass filter runs into the audio in of the ring modulator; and the audio out of the ring modulator runs into an amp. Here are the settings. (http://www.wobblymusic.com/spaceman/images/MoogerFoogers.JPG) You'll probably need to fiddle with the frequency setting of the ring modulator.
