In Levnet's case, they've been prettymuch spot-on about my techniques, and just within the last couple of days, as a result of their critique, my playing quality has just jumped to a point that frightens me. It takes just that kind of critisism for me to realize what I'm doing, what I'm doing right, or not.
You're absolutely right about sorting out the wheat from the chaff. It took me many years to learn how to do that without getting all bent out of shape, and wasting valuable time in the process.
