Do you know of a local electronic parts store (NOT Radio Schlock), or amateur (ham) radio club in your area? You might well find someone through these sources who could not only check out your board but competently and inexpensively replace your diode should that be the problem. My husband and I know a lot of these guys. They just LOVE to solder stuff and most of them do it quite well. Just a thought. Good luck!

Hi, there is one fellow I know who used to be an engineer with Mississippi Educational Televisnion, who has done some awesome repair jobs for me for only a few bucks that would have cost thousands on an industrial projector, were it to have been done elsewhere, but he's got a lot of irons in the fire right now, and there's really not that much in the way of electronics clubs here in Jackson that I know of. Radio clubs abound. And my arcade machine just scared the daylights out of me just now. I forgot it was on, and in attract mode. Plays a short starwars tune every once in a while.

any good coin-op tech whould be able to replace that in a few minutes...

I got just the fix for it. It's the volume knob. I built this arcade machine, so, I guess I'd be playing for myself.

I think we got side-tracked when I mentioned my arcade machine had just scared the daylights out of me, and buddy just happened to mention that a coin-op service tech could probably work on my theremin for a song, literally.

Seems I saw something about a coin-op theremin in a levnet posting last year, though.
