To clarify - the photo in the book is longer than the photo in the magazine (I got one! well, two!) - which is in turn longer than the photo on the web.
The book shows all four legs, and the shoes, in full, which are nice court shoes with maybe a 2"-2.5" heel.
As the book photo is more complete, one can see that the Theremin is not connected (it's the Theremin's four legs you can see - there's 9 legs in the photo in total!) - she is not playing, she is posing - albeit in a remarkably attractive manner.
