medical risks of using a theremin?

life is just better with theremin

How true!

(Also, a slightly belated welcome to Theremin World, Komor. Your website looks as if it is very informative. (As I don't speak Hungarian and the site is resistant to the frame embedding used by the only online Hungarian to English translation tools I could find I can't be sure.)) :-)

Thank you very much! :) When I started makeing the website, I wanted to translate everything into english too, but then I made up my mind. (I'm glad I did that, my english is not that good.) Why should I do that? Every information about the theremin is here at thereminworld, and great forums too, this is the best place for theremin maniacs all over the world. There are no other hungarian sites about this cool instrument, and a lot of people wrote me e-mails, that they never heard before about the instrument and they learn a lot about it in my site. So it's usefull I guess.

By the way, I have just read an article about music and healt. Scientists discovered, that listening to music we like is healty, while listening to music, we don't can be damageable. Well, if this true than if you like theremin music, and the sound of the instrument, listening to it is simply healthy.

That surprises me, because I read on a Hungarian website that THIS (http://www.keptelenseg.hu/keptelenseg/olvas/zene-a-wokitoki-val/) is normal.

Actually they said that this is not normal.

That makes more sense.

Today I have learned that the automatic translation service provided here: http://www.tranexp.com/win/itserver.htm sometimes translates text as the exact opposite of what it actually means.

So perhaps this site (http://standby.blog.hu/2008/10/29/zene_a_vokitokival) actually describes me as young, intelligent and sure to have a hit record, and the translation software got it wrong again. (Although, in this instance it is more likely that the translation is correct and I am none of those things.)

Oh, come on, don't listen to them. When I started to post videos on youtube, I've got more "I would like to do you in the *ss" mails, than Hey, "that's interesting" mails. Most of the people can be very rude on the net, becouse it's faceless. I liked your video. And what is interesting most about it, that it quite sound like a theremin. do you think people who commented the video do know what is a theremin? I don't think so.

No worries, Komor. I spent several years doing a job where I politely helped angry people who swore at me, insulted me and threatened me with physical violence every day. One time someone even put a gypsy curse on me.

I think these postings on the internet are funny.

Aha! I found your channel. I like your experimental music. :-)

Great list, Thomas! Got a good chuckle out of it. :)

I can't think of any medical risks, really.

A few weeks ago, I had to recieve a Tetanus booster. As you probably know, this shot causes some soreness in the muscle for a few days as the vaccine is absorbed by the body.

The nurse suggested that, since I'm right-handed, that I should take the shot in the right arm -- the theory being that it is used more and will "pump" the vaccine into the body.

Anyway... to make a long story short, I made a point to play the theremin after the shot and I experienced practically no pain or soreness (compared to ten years ago when it was REALLY BAD.)

So, perhaps the theremin-playing activity helped to ease the symptoms of the booster-shot.

(Seriously - I suspect that practising without audio feedback is a good way to ingrain bad habits.)
