Interesting RFI Pulse

Unfortunately, we were running late, so I didn't get to do the "key in, engine off" test with the handheld lastnight. We've got another chance to try it on Friday evening. I'll let you know what happens. :)

I've just got back from opera rehearsal, and this time, with handheld theremin in tow. :)

I had my driver simply insert the key, but without starting the engine. This time, there was no pulsing of the tone.

However, when the engine was starting, the theremin picked up a 3 rapid "rrrr rrrr rrrr" pulses, followed by about a 4 or 5 Hz pulsing.

It's my guess that what we're hearing is the car's computer doing a power on self test, followed by it's normal routine system checking.

Quite fascinating. :)

You may be onto something, Thomas. Some clever person might find a way to use a theremin to troubleshoot car electronics. :)
