The Timbre of the Theremin. . . . and advice for a beginner.

Jason - It's the one on the link to obsolete.com of "A typical theremin" that's been attributed to you. It's just a really poor recording. It's almost hard to hear the theremin over the hiss.

I run my theremin through an ART effects processor. It can do everything from wild delays, reverbs and flanges etc. Those sounds are fun in a rock setting but for some of the more melodic songs I want a more natural sound.

I started with the theremin itself (an Etherwave) and I turned the waveform knob all the way to the left and the brightness pretty far to the right.

From there I will use the EQ and boost the mids and add a tasteful amount of reverb. What else would you guys suggest to get a smooth, human voice type of sound?

I am playing through a small Peavey amp (mostly as a monitor for me) and a medium-sized PA system.
