Still busy with Hands Off. Mrs C has very correctly decided that we are in need of a weekend vacation, to coincide with the bank holiday.

Also coincidentally I received an opportunity to play a set at a seaside resort - Brighton. So we're off at the weekend to pitch our tent nearby.

It's an interesting gig. Final Cut (http://www.finalcut.gb.com) is a short film screening event.

IT'S A THEREMIN THING!

As this year is almost the 90th anniversary of the invention of the Theremin, we're bringing you a collection of live acts based around this iconic electronic instrument. Each act will perform a short set between the films, climaxing with the fabulous Michael Rennie Fan Club who will recreate everybody's favourite 50s Sci- Fi film, The Day the Earth Stood Still.

There will also be a Theremin busker to serenade you on arrival. Gordon Charlton, aka Beat Frequency, is one of the UK's top players of this remarkable instrument and the man behind www.theremin.org.uk

SPACE DOG UK

Featuring the Clara 2.0 animatronic doll, the world's first robot Thereminist. Seriously creepy.

THE FUNFAIR ALLSTARS

The FA's present Get Carter's, an hilarious spoof of the classic UK thriller, starring 'Michael Caine'.

JOANNA 90 & HER SATELLITE OF LOVE - spaced-out outer-space tribute to the UK's first (and only) space-pop hit, Telstar.

THE MICHAEL RENNIE FAN CLUB PRESENTS

Their latest Theremin-based film/music extravaganza is a semi-respectful homage to the film that put this instrument on the map. Klaatu Barada Nikto!

As soon as I stop laughing about one of the UK's top players I think I shall be a little concerned - they want me to busk for an hour! That sounds like a rather long time.

So, if you're in Brighton on Sunday you want to be at the Po Na Na on East Street (at the seafront end) from 6:30 onwards. Say hi!

You'll do fine. An hour will go by quick once you get into the thick of it all.

Nice one on the complement they paid you!

Edweird - Your very own, fully functional, pocket sized Man From Uranus in a box. Available in a range of colours. Egor say Gooooood!

Buddy - There's a show on Brit TV just for you. The Shiny Show. Catchphrase, "Give yourself a shiny!" I hesitate to state what "a shiny" is.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. The weather on Sunday appears to be improving. This morning my weather widget was predicting electrical storms in Brighton, now it's just rain. Hopefully by the time we get to Sunday it will be good weather.

Hopefully the weather will be nice. Weather prediction is more an art form than a science really.

I bought my very own special noise friend. He will be black and green. If he is nice, I willbuy him a little brother next year in blue.

Every single NYTS event has had really bad weather.
If it happens to you then we'll finally know for sure that it is do to Aetheric Harmonic Therematic Convergences.

But I'll keep my fingers crossed it's not and you have dandy conditions.

!Count down!...

Up until a few years ago I understand that the UK weather reports would have been correct more often if they had simply said "today will be the same as yesterday" every day.

But it is looking better. The weather on Sunday is now sunny with light clouds, and a comfortable max of 16 degrees C (that's 60 degrees F.)

What bothered me was not so much the thunder and lightning - which would make a fitting backdrop for my playing - as the prospect of standing outside next to an earthed device with a vertical metal spike, rather akin to a lightning conductor.

I have seen enough science fiction movies to know that all electrical devices are covertly packed with high explosives during manufacture, and will violently obey the second law of thermodynamics when unduly disturbed.

Setting aside the danger to my person, I do not wish to be accused of thererrorism.

Gordon, there is probably a fifty-fifty chance you will be struck by lightning and become some kind of monster creature that will eat a good chunk of England.

In the sequal you will make your way to France...

My family think it has already happened.

Sorry about the short posting. I'm just off to gorge Cheddar. Later I shall make Yorkshire pudding.
