"Or could it be that they are truly Theremin devotees - and want to honor him by assisting those interested in emulating his "other" activities .... ;-) ..?"  - FredM

It does seem to be the case that Theremin ran back to Russia to escape the rather dubious and collapsing business dealings he had set up in the US.  Perhaps Jason is experiencing some kind of third party of the second part twice removed karmic backlash?

"karmic backlash?" - Dewster

How does this happen? - we start out with a sensible discussion, I post what I see as a sensible (;-)) contribution, then suddenly we are into metaphysics.. ;-)

"It does seem..Theremin ran back to Russia to escape the rather dubious and collapsing business dealings"..

This is a version of the story that I am not fully inclined to believe, or at least I dont think it was this alone, or that he had full control of his "choices" - It may be that the business situation made his role as a spy less useful - but I dont believe he willingly chose to leave for business reasons alone.

"The One" directing the Karmic "system" must have (or be) an awesome computation machine to direct the karmic minutia over multiple generations for trillions of "entities" - Hell, perhaps its nothing to do with Lev's "business" - perhaps Spammers are attacking TW because Lev didn't fulfill his karmic task, and never raised Lenin from the dead ...  (or perhaps its some other karmic debt related to Lev) Nah! Perhaps its Lev himself reacting to our reaction re the Theremini !   ;-)

I think the "reason" for TW's blight is likely to be a lot simpler..  IF this is not bot-generated pr "standard" spam, IF TW is being deliberately targeted, then this action is either by someone who is entirely irrational /angry / delusional, OR it is by someone trying to cause a reaction that somehow benefits them... Someone who either has a personal grudge and wants to "discomfort" a moderator or moderators, or someone who wants to disable TW's effectiveness AND/OR alter TWs operation in some way... A way which has hidden benefit to them.

Only the moderators have a possibility of examining any spike in these spam posts and comparing them with member postings / movements / reprimands / expulsions, and perhaps deriving CIRCUMSTANTIAL "indicators" of any possible "inside" stuff - Also, only Jason probably fully knows the extent to which the site was hacked by intruders recently (email disruption) , and whether this was a precursor to the present situation.

I just took a random phrase from the last spam post, and entered it into Google..

""and I could produce duplicates and replica of documents""

Several hits were returned -  "Lonely Planet" Forum, a Amazon / Kindle forum, and a Joomla forum (some forums had multiple threads corrupted) .  All linked the same email address as the posting here, and were posted within the last 17 hours - 17 and 7 hours ago... No doubt many more (including the one on TW) havent yet been picked up by the google bot.

This sort of makes it look, to me, more like a "standard" spamming operation rather than "insider" malice. NO URL's were present in these postings - no active links of any kind that I could find - only the @yahoo.com.br email address enclosed in brackets... The only way I can see this being of use to a spam operation is if people actually make contact and do so quickly before the address is removed.
