I feel like an idiot! I've followed the directions, but I still can't figure it out. Help! I'm so frustrated!

@CraftyWitch: I'm actually producing a tut vid to help with that. But I'll guide y'all through it here.

Once Theremini is connected to your computer, you need to perform the Vulcan mind meld with it by holding scale, root, and setup buttons while powering on at the same time. At Theremini, you should see "THEREMINI BOOT...SEND ERASE".

At loader, you need to brows to the erase file, and be sure to highlight it, then hit send. At Theremini, you should see "ERASE COMPLETE...SEND CODE"

At loader, brows to the code file, and hit send. At Theremini, you should see pages being loaded. It should reach about 750-ish, and then reboot it's self.

Verify status of update version by powering off Theremini, then hold setup, and power on. Continue holding setup until you read the version shown, then release setup. Theremini will continue to boot.

well, you don't have to. but welcome to the club. have a break, a tea whatever. the most challenging thing is performing the Vulcan mind meld. LOL. must be children protection!

mac: download the 1.1.1  file to,your desktop; unzip it, if necessary; open the folder: there's a mac + a win folder, and two .pdf files.one tells you how to and the other what's new. open the mac folder: a  C6 folder and a Sysex files folder. open C6. doubleclick the ...dmg file. install C6 and open it. press load. another window pops up. search for the previous mentioned sysex folder. Open that folder and there are: Theremini_Erase...syx and tmini-fw...syx file. push cancel. ok.

from here on follow the udate instructions, point 1,2,3 . four is already done. and the rest should be a snap. maybe the 'select', point7, is not very clear. means 'blue highlighted'.

to deconfuse  it a bit more: when you loaded and sent the Theremini_Erase file, and it worked, (check the display) you can push that small close button, between save and config. then load/ send the tmini-fw-1.1.1.syx as you did before. (check also the display for all those numbers running through)....all done? pat your back. :-)

@all: For further clarification, I've produced a short tutorial on how to flash the Theremini to it's latest firmware update.

Enjoy!

Very helpful video. Thank you, Thomas.

But gosh, what a complicated procedure. Seriously, it takes about six clicks to install a whole new operating system in a computer. That warrants about two clicks - run the app, it tells you what buttons to press on the theremini and maybe requires another click to tell it the theremini is ready.

Hi Gordon. Yeh, some bit of automation could have been done to make that process a bit more streamlined.

Keep in mind, a lot of those clicks were me, switching between the theremini's camera view, windows magnifier, and the loader ops. :)

@CraftyWitch: Sorry to hear you're having medical problems. Hope that gets sorted soon.

Re: your technical issue, I think it's your cable. I've had to go through two other USB to mini-B cables before I discovered they were not OTG type cables which permit bi-directional communication. HOWEVER, in the case of running the editor (to test the cable), you would get a sync error while trying to sync files, or the editor would tell you the Theremini's not connected on start up. That's how I discovered I wasted money on two cheap cables. Once I had the right cable, I was able to get the updater to work, as well as the editor.

After researching the web, I found out that I had to download c6 software and reconfigure its settings. Seriously! Moog can't find an easier way? I thought it was my cable too. I even bought a new one but it wouldn't work. So now it's done and updated. I haven't even used my iPad app. I'm hoping that it's easier to figure out.
