JPascal you captured the long sought after classic wave shape … you will always be my hero! Yes tease those that want to duplicate your research. For myself and my own stuff I recognize a vacuum tube is most likely involved? The classic theremin sound is unique and should not be a Theremini whistle.

So i have at least one fan and one critical observer. :-) What more could I want? So I will continue the journey back to the basics.

What i wanted to say with the last simulation was that the usual theremins only produces harmonics with lower amplitudes than the fundamental. But there are possibilities to maximize the first, second, third or fourth and any higher overtones. These are not formants with fix resonances, but do share some similarities. Another field for further investigations to enhance the performance of theremins.

From the realm of fun:

Excellent presentation: I tried to do something similar in my local kid’s museum using a large mirror for kids to stand in front of and approach.

Titled “Through the looking glass.” The problem was instability.

Watching this demonstration the Theremin Phenomenon could never work here due to all the rebar or metal rods inside the brick wall.

I speculate those are four optical sensors below the painting each triggering its own midi effect.

Job well done!

I am now curious about the factor of iron-reinforcing walls and the abundance of electrical appliances in multi-apartment, panel houses. Including with pulse power supply. And I have plans to test the theremin in nature. Compare how he is in my apartment and how he is outside the house.

has anyone done this here? Are there any descriptions of such experiences? ))

This seems to employ 4 fields, and they appear to be rather non-linear and cramped.

An analog theremin can be used with a midi controller. Here as a gestural interface to the Google Arts KI Blop Opera.

Count me as another.  What are your plans for this project?  Are you interested in developing a PCB?  The results are impressive, I have been looking for a good re-creation of the classic RCA Theremin sound.

Thank you for the kind words, Triode. I don't have any plans yet as to how I will deal with the developed circuits. They may look simple, but most of the work is in just these simplifications. "Let's make it simple, but not simpler."

The goals were: no warm-up and temperature effects, really good linearity, avoidance of hum, volume range 90 db, a natural sounding overtone behavior without resembling a synthesizer. Dynamic acceleration of the volume for plug and push effects (ADSR) organically by hand movements without manual adjustment. The right geometry of he antennas, air wound coils are fundamentally important.

Some ideas have stayed in my head to this day. Yes, PCBs are possible, but solid free wiring is also an option for me to celebrate visibility and simplicity. I need time to write down all thoughts and decisions I have made and those that have failed.

Do you plan to share the schematics?  I would love to build one.  One reason I asked about a PCB is because I can help with that, I am an electrical engineer and would be willing to help move this project forward any way I can.
