Hello everyone, im new to Theremin world. I am a part of an audio production/ engineering program and for my electronics class I have decided to build a Theremin. I have always marvelled at theremins, synthesizers and pretty much everything and anything electronic/music related. Just wondering if anybody could give me advice on if I should purchase a kit (being that this is my first time attempting to build one) or if I should just buy all necessary components and build it like that.  I would like to build one with volume and frequency antennas. My instructor for this course is going to help me through the process of building it. If anybody could help me on what route to take it would be greatly appreciated.

The 126 is  a popular design -  i think you would have blast. your instructor as well.

I play the model 302 - best theremin ever imho. cheap too.

plate antennas are forgiving of extraneous hand motions making them easy to hold a steady pitch, 8 octave playing range is also nice.

Thank you very much for these links, Rupert. Any idea what the rough estimate of costs of supplies are for the 126? The joys of being a college student is having a tight budget haha. The theremin is something ive always been interested in making so im willing to part with one kidney

I have no idea, i'm a player not a builder. The parts table has links to all the suppliers for the parts, mostly mouser.

An email to Arthur is at the bottom of the page.
