Yes, this happens every time I let the computer go to sleep while connected to the theremin. Dismiss thi dialog and go to gear icon->information, will show you if you are on the latest firmwareIt says I am at 1.0.1 and the update is 1.0.2.I am using an Ipad and I only have it connected to the Claravox when I want to use the editor. It is also hard to ignore, as I use the editor a window keeps popping up telling me to update.I opened a chat with Moog, and the message was that they are busy and will email me… I then received a form email saying they will get back to me sometime …@bendra, were you ever able to update? Is everyone else on 1.0.2?

Update on this. I connected with Jared at Moog and had a very good volley of emails, back and forth. I am quite satisfied with the customer service. He concluded that because the section of the Information menu called “Instrument Information” was greyed out, it means that my Cvox is using the most up to date firmware. The glitch in the software is that it is not recognizing that and hence the update window keeps appearing. Nothing to be done about that besides ignoring it, is the conclusion.

I was also having a problem with atonal underlying harmonics intermittently happening, making the instrument unplayable, which Jared was trying to work out with me. Tried moving the amp, moving the theremin, changing cords, using headphone only with no amp in the room etc. etc. when I finally (accidentally) realized that the Cvox was reacting to my iPad’s power cord! Even without the iPad attached to the coed. Just the presence of the cord within 5-6ft. of the theremin was causing the distortion. Luckily, the fix is simply to use the iPad in battery mode. My Claravox is working great now, I am very pleased with it.

Good advice! I’ve had similar problems with iPad musical applications and battery mode is the most elegant solution. I don’t know if it is just power supply’s that affect amplifiers so easily or the cord itself.

I assume you mean with the cord plugged into AC?  Is that a genuine Apple iPad power cord?  The fakes can look pretty real, but internally they're a mess: dangerous shock and fire hazards, and can really spew interference.

Yes, plugged into AC and no, I don’t think I still have the original cord, it failed long ago. That’s interesting, though. Worth experimenting if I can find someone with an original cord to borrow.
I’ve never heard that about aftermarket lightning connector cords. The ones I buy seem heavier duty than Apple cords and have never given us trouble otherwise. I’ll look into the problems. Thanks for the tip!

I tried 2 different cords, directly into usb sockets on two different power bars, and tried different wall outlets. Do you use genuine Apple cords?

I was talking about the adapter, not the cord itself so much: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi-b9k-0KfE

Lotsa electronic crap out there, AC adapters are among the scariest.

Oh, I see. I was not using an adapter, per se, just plugging into built in usb ports on my power bars. Maybe that’s the problem. I probably have the Apple adapters, so I will try those. Thx again.

Just curious, who makes the power bars?

Just for the record I had the exact same noise problem and tracked down the cause to a Samsung power adapter I use to charge my phone - and no the phone doesn't even have to be attached. At least its a simple fix - just turn it off
