Listen to excerpts from Shakespeare, Poe, Lovecraft and many more, replete with spooky sound effects, haunting music, and scary surprises. A fabulous kick-off to your Halloween week!

Featured at Something Wicked This Way Comes is John Hoge, a New York City-based thereminist.

Hoge has performed with the New York Theremin Society directed by Dorit Chrysler. He is the editor of ThereminWorld.com and is heard on on "Spellbound" the internet radio theremin show. His "Theremin Salons" and workshops have helped spread the word about the theremin and its history.

John has incorporated the theremin into his work in the theatre. He played theremin on stage in "Looking for Limbo" part of the American Living Room Festival 2006 and "Theremin" in the New York Fringe Festival 2007. He has composed music and worked as sound designer for various theatres including The Public Theatre NYC, Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey and Indiana Repertory Theater. For many years he worked as an organist and conductor in New York City churches.

John is part of the installation art duo Santiago-Hoge. This artist collaboration with partner Glen M. Santiago has produced interactive art installations and elaborate Dia de los Muertos ofrendas for over 15 years. They have created large scale commissioned ofrendas for El Museo del Barrio, The New York Tenement Museum, and The Interfaith Center of NY.
