double posting

I've figured out why I double-post occasionally - my finger hovers too close over my trackpad and sends two clicks to the Post button very close to one another.

Could something clever be done with Javascript to disable the post button when it has been clicked once?

We struggle with this at work, the double post back is often a pain in the tuckus not just in ASP apps.
The best fix we found was to do a redirect from the recieving page and relocate the client brower so that it loses the context of it's post event. but for a forum you might have to redirect twice to get the user back to where they'd expect to be after the button click.
We didn't find any client side script fix but it's worth a thought.

seems like Gordon is the one with the problem. so why shouldn't Jason rewrite the web to make him happy?

i kid, i kid.

on the car forum that i post on, you can only post once in 30 seconds.

or for Gordon, you could turn off the tap function of you touch pad. i hated touch pads just for that reason until i figured out to turn it of off or make it less sensitive and now i'm ok with it.

Oh I hate touch pads too.
I've been delaying replacing my old home lap top because I can't find any with just the track pointer in the keyboard any more.

Those pads are just another of many technical inovations that I'm amazed became the popular standard cause they just don't work for me.

You jest I know, but I believe there actually was an enhancement for this in V2 of TW, but that release is still a long ways off.

I like my track pad. Guess I should be more decisive in my tapping.

The only quick solution other than going in, and resetting the touch pad's sensitivity is to simply use your tab key to highlight the post button, and hit the space bar to activate it. you'll never have that double posting problem again. Something us blinks have to do anyway.
