No idea as to the voice but "built by Wilco Botermans and played by Lydia Kavina" suggests to me that it'll sound OK.

Waving ones hands around to make music really isn't strange any more, but it is still fascinating to watch. Sometimes watching people play instruments by hitting them or blowing down them seems very odd - a little bit crass perhaps and so mechanical.

My hat's off to [UK] Hands Off.
This is a very encouraging grass roots effort for the theremin. Congrats Gordon.

Please consider extracting your forum notes sometime on this whole progression. It will always be different for each person and locale, but the final "how we did it" story could be very helpful to some one else later on.

Happy aether oh blessed isle!

I think probably the most important thing for anyone considering a similar endeavour is that they should have only the vaguest idea of the effort and complexities they are letting themselves in for.

This is the second time I have initiated a project of this size - you'd think I would have learned my lesson!

Nonetheless, your encouraging words are very well timed, omhoge - I'm going through the process of contacting people who have offered to play and firming up the arrangements - fortunately the vast majority of those I have heard back from are still up for it, but I've been in something of a blue funk today from losing one of my Brits. :-(

BUT - let's keep it positive - I also confirmed yesterday that we will have at least one, and possibly two RCAs. One courtesy of Richard Cole, curator of the Musical Museum (http://musicalmuseum.co.uk), and guardian of Musaire's theremins, (who has confirmed and will be speaking about Musaire and the early days) and also I understand that Lucy Bigelow Rosen's (I think - I was told the name in a phone call and forgot to make a note of it) R.C.A. is currently in repair with Jake Rothman in the hope that it will be playable by the symposium.

I also have something else up my sleeve that I don't want to mention just yet. :-)

So at the moment my emotions are up and down like a yo-yo but on average I am still feeling very positive about the whole thing.

And that's another good tip for anyone - keep a positive attitude!
