I just recently got my first theremin, a Moog Etherwave. I have the user's manual that comes with, and started going through the motions. When telling you how to tune, it first tells you how to adjust the volume knob. All's good with that. Then it tells you to turn the Pitch knob fully counterclockwise, and then start turning it clockwise to hear the pitch go down. The problem is... when I turn in clockwise, the pitch goes up....
Am I doing something wrong??
Thanks!

It sounds very odd.

You may need to keep turning it until you hit a small gap of silence then a high pitch and tune down from there.
But what you're describing, if I picturing it correctly, sounds backwards to how it usually works.

It may need an internal adjustment.
Have you posted in the Theremin Construction forum here?
There are a lot of folks who mess with the internals a lot more than me.

If the unit is new, you should definitely call Moog! They're very helpful.

Are you using the instrument in a closed environment? If so, try plugging it in somewhere less crowded, and see if that helps.

Oh another thing, if you're using it on a table and not a mic stand make sure the loop is hanging off the edge and is in clear space, and if you dont' have a stand yet they're not expensive and are really how it works best.

Please let us know how it's going.
Good luck!
