Don't see any mention of the Futurama TV show. There's a ton of theremin music here and there throughout the entire series. It originally aired on Fox TV but now it's shown on Cartoon channel late night.

Right. And Groening loves also the Ondes Martenot.
He named the cyclop caractere Leela, in a reference to the fantastic symphonie (played with the Ondes Martenot) "Turangalîla" by Olivier Messiaen.

Yup - in fact Leela's first name in the series is Turanga.

There is also an instrument called a Holophonor in Futurama which produces holograms depending on the playing, this seems at least in part tribute to the Theremin.
