by how much did you increase the capacitors? and also which capacitors are these?

I'll try myself when I have time, but it would be interesting to know what values you tried.
Also, did you remove the lower octave or the higher?

About the other issue:
I'm still thinking about the coil, that red one I can see in your photos... So you wound it "by hand"? I never did coils work, so I don't know exactly how to do it.
Another solution would be to buy several coils and put them in paralel (like Etherwave does), experimenting till you see the linearity is correct...

I'm sorry that I can't remember the capacitors at the moment - they are the ones that are part of the LC circuit. I will have to look at them later.

As for the linearizing coil, the amount of turns will vary based on your antenna length and diameter, so what works for mine will not necessarily work for yours. I fine tuned mine by making the coil, and then adjusting the height of the antenna until it was very linear.

Winding a coil by hand is just like it sounds - you wind the wire around the coil form. It is not particularly difficult to do.

I recall that the RS Theremin site: www.oldtemecula.com

had some instructions on it somewhere for winding coils.

To figure out the resulting value of my coil, I used the online coil calculator that Maxies Pages used to link to, but that is no longer on the internet. I remember calculating the values based on coil diameter, wire diameter, antenna length and diameter. After building the coil, I intentionally made my antenna extra long, and then shortened it bit by bit to fine tune it to the coil.

For the capacitor values, I simply doubled them, which resulted in a nice usable range.
