Update-

TeslaTheremin worked on it, and found a bad transistor. We called radioshack, and they didn’t have it, so we were out of luck. Oh well. Then we looked at a few odd spare resistors and such left over in the old box I keep it in, and there was a transistor. It was just the one we needed to replace! After putting that in, and doing more work (including some tuning and antenna work), TeslaTheremin got it to work!

I haven’t unpacked it yet or put it in the wooden box I have for it, but wow, thanks TeslaTheremin! I’ll update everyone with how it goes.

Have a fun day everyone!

P.S. TeslaTheremin also demonstrated his cool Tesla coil. Not for the faint of heart!

Not good for those with pacemakers either, I suspect!

Thanks Equinox, It was my pleasure to help!
And, yes djpb, pace-maker users should always stay away from Tesla Coils.

Good Luck!

I came across some news today that TeslaTheremin may be interested in. I'm posting it here instead of just emailing him because others may be interested too.

Nicola Tesla's Wardenclyffe lab (and the foundation of his giant tower) have languished in decay for years. Now the owner of the property is looking to scrape the site bare and sell it as a vacant lot due to the tough economy. An effort is underway to save it and establish a Tesla science museum (with a cafeteria and playground) at the site. They need donations to do this. I'll be sending a donation today, and will get contributions from friends and ask my kids too.

Their website is:

Tesla Science Center (http://www.teslasciencecenter.org/)

donations go to:

Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe
P.O. Box 552
Shoreham, NY, 11786

In our culture we spend billions on Hannah Montana and creationist museums, but can't spare enough for a kid's science museum at the site of this genius's lab? Feynman was right - this is not yet a scientific age.

Have a great day everyone-

Update –

Our family did send a donation to the TSC. In addition to the kid’s share of the money, they also donated a rubber band, a grown salt crystal, a plastic gem, a marble, etc.

Have a good day-

No more of a "blinded by science" age, considering how many are glued to their game systems and/or cell phones!

On the other hand, all one of the crazies that walks around talking to themselves has to do is put a bluetooth thingie in his ear and he'll be treated "normal" by society. :)

Good Luck!
