Building a Clara rockmore Theremin

I'm building a Clara Rockmore theremin.
The pitch cirquit is good (4 octaves and stable)
The Volume part gives me great problems
The oscillators (Both) are working but The rest of the cirquit is working. I dont understand the principels of this part How dus it clips the volume?
Please help me out

As I recall, they controlled the heater voltage (or current) of one tube to vary the amount of signal passing through.

Since there is a bit of thermal delay, you have a lot of latency with this method ... ie. sluggish volume control.
