Léon Theremin born Lev Sergeyevich Termen, Saint Petersburg, Russia (August 15, 1896 to November 3, 1993), he was a Russian inventor, most famous for his invention of the theremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments.

"Lev's instrument manufactured by RCA came out during the "Great Depression". He wanted the theremin to be available for the average family. One of his many heartbreaks, it would sell for the price of buying a home."

С днем рождения, Лев Сергеевич Термен!

Considering how notoriously bad Lev's English was, I translated our words into Russian just in case he happens to be reading our messages from beyond the grave. #Woo-wee-woo!# Happy Birthday Léon!

Lev,
Happy Birthday in memorium.
I just cannot thank you enough.
The theremin has been a wonderful addition to my life and remains one of the most elegant electronic musical interfaces ever created.
Blessings on you.

It is August 15, the 111th birthday of the theremins father. He laid out his Sunday best to look nice when everyone arrived. He skipped his daily coffee at the cafe to be home and not miss when they came. He spent most of the morning polishing his shoes which he sat by the door. He skipped his afternoon nap and stayed near the phone so he could answer it when they called. They hadn't visited him for such a long time. But today was his birthday and he was sure they would all come! At supper he left the cake untouched so they could have it with him. At 8:30 he went to his room to prepare for bed. Before retiring, he pinned a note on the door which read, "Be sure to wake me when you come", but they seemed to have forgotten his 111th birthday. It’s was time to rest and await the morning sun.

Happy Birthday Lev Termen

Well you forgot too, so I don't see what the deal is. I'm sure Leon was far more pleased to see my practising on his birthday than discussing his date of birth.
