There are 4 things you need to know:-

1st - good choice - if you're willing to spend the money on an Etherwave you can't really go wrong.
2nd - Sound Control sell Etherwaves for 249.99 - see here (www.soundcontrol.co.uk) (http://www.soundcontrol.co.uk/mod_1/pages/mod_1.12/pages/mod_1.12.1/pages/mod_1.12.1.1/pages/index.php?sku=1.1.1.4.1-150-444). They have stores in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and various other sites in the North (South from where I am, though!)
3rd - Turnkey also sell them for 249.99 (though they apparently have b-stock in for 179.99 at the moment) here (www.turnkey.co.uk) (http://www.turnkey.co.uk/web/searchAction.do?dispatch=quickSearch&searchString=theremin). They're London-based, so not quite as accessible.
4th - there is a site dedicated to all things thereminy in the UK at theremin.org.uk (http://www.theremin.org.uk). It has space for UK thereminists to promote themselves, their gigs and music, as well as useful links (though not WHERE to buy - I'm off to fix this now...) - you'll find you've just missed a couple of gigs in the North within the last 2 weeks :-(

And don't worry about asking questions - there are pages and pages of useful information on the web, but it's a lot to trawl through, and not necessarily relevant depending on your intentions for the instrument or you location in the world. I would also recommend having a read through the 'Gordon's Progress' topic here on TW.com - it is a step-by-step walk through the first year of theremin ownership and is full of useful findings.

Keep 'em coming!

and then I'll speak only when spoken to or I have something good to say (never) but if you could just help me out with this one last thing...

i never have anything useful to say, but it hasn't stopped me.

there are plenty of thereminites on your side of the pond, i'm sure one of them will point you in the correct direction.

i know that Moog sells an etherwave made for 220volt.
i would be surprised if others didn't do so as well.

...cleverly concealed amongst absurd ramblings and intended solely to corrupt the innocent young thereminist. Don't do it!!!

I got my firtst etherwave from Turnkey. It was ""B stock" but why I don't know. It was spotless complete with manual and Cd.Priced at £179.99.
It is a fantastic instrument for all standards of playing. It is worth buying a reasonably good amp from the start, I went too cheap to start with!
Guitar shops would be happy for you to take in your theremin to try a range of amps.As you can see I am now playing an E pro but I still use my etherwave as well.Good Hunting...
