Why?

Oh, wait, I know why.

Coworker: What's in the bag?
Buddy: F***ing Theremin.

Is why

Oh, it's better than that.

Let's look at the evidence.

1. Buddy works on car electrics.

2. He's the kind of guy that puts his TV into a pub space-invaders cabinet.

3. He's taking his theremin to work.

Conclusion - he's going to wire it up to his car horn.

So now when he gesticulates equivocally at the clot that cut him up on the freeway it will be accompanied by sound effects.

Yeah but every time he turns on the radio and makes left turn the windshield wipers will start going crazy...

Buddy,

Had the weather been better, I was tempted to call you and drop by.

Your Theremin looks very nice, indeed.

Were people interested in it?

Oh, come on…
It’s only a little Midwestern ice storm, we’ve been through them before. ;)

Thanks for the complement on my staining job, I’m not quite finished with the varnish, but I needed a break from it.

And the theremin has been such a big hit I’ve left it here since Friday.
There are two entrances in to the parts room I have it positioned so that it’ll get ya no matter which door you come through.
And everyone has asked about it, the delivery drivers, the outside salesmen, the mechanics. And so of course I have to do the standard demonstration on the antenna and loop. And then they want to play with it. So it’s got a lot of exposure to people that have never heard of one

Everyone in the building has seen it and made noise on it.
Even the office people that are on the far end of the building, well, except for the president and this one guy that has a phobia about germs.

The electricity is really dirty in the building so I’ve had to listen to the amp hum all day. I wonder if the theremin is picking up RF noise from the fluorescent lights.

Let me know the next time you are going to be at the airport and have some extra time and I’ll bring it back in.
It would be nice for the guys to know it can be “played” rather than just some monkey making noise on it (me)

I’m like 5 minutes away from the downtown airport
map (http://www.google.com/maps?saddr=300+NW+Richards+Rd,+Kansas+City,+MO+64116+(Kansas+City+Downtown+Airport)+%4039.119597,-94.590596&daddr=77+S+James+St,+Kansas+City,+KS+66118&f=l&hl=en&dq=airport+downtown+loc:+Kansas+City,+MO&sll=39.119597,-94.590596&sspn=0,0.02&cid=39119597,-94590596,17061159220526679094&ie=UTF8&z=14&om=1)
But I wouldn’t get of at 12th street, I would stay on 35 and take 670west to the Wyoming / Genesee exit

And I could send it home with you so you can get some real play time in on a Etherwave. and you could make sure it does what it's supposed to do.
I’ve got so many PAYING customers lined up that I cant even think about trying to practice.

Buddy,

Sounds like fun. The rest of the week I'm pretty swamped... next week is looking good, though. I will keep you posted.

I don't know if there is an "official take your theremin to work day", but I used do so every Halloween for a few years.

Believe it or not, most people showed little or no interest in it at all.

That's not completely surprising however. Many of the people I work with are about as much fun as a toothache.
