plasma globe

I have discovered that if you take a cheep plasma globe and plug it in near your theremin you can play the plasma globe!!
I have done a search to see if anybody has done this before and found nothing on it!

So I am doing my duty and passing the info to all of you.
The sounds it make are exciting!

It's funny you post this. I'm working on a theremin and I thought a plasma globe would look cool on it. I figured it would interfere with it rather then making a good antenna...

I second the request for the video.

In the next few days my friend is going to film a video for SO MUCH BETTER. I have the plasma globe plugged into the ceiling fan so the video should be pretty cool.

So you've got a telescopic one-stick nestled amongst more electronics and flashing lights than you can shake a stick at, and a small plasma globe plugged into a light fitting about your head. Touching the globe with one hand whilst playing the theremin with the other has a drastic effect on the theremin. So far so good. Only hitch is there's a lot of music going on all at once and my poor ears can't tell which is the theremin sound.

Nonetheless I shall have to keep my eye out for a cheap one. :-)

Its no wonder you cant tell what sound the theremin is since I have more effects on it then you can shake a stick at!
As a rule of thumb, any sound that glides is the theremin.
The sound at the end of the video is the theremin with distortion, delay, ring mod, grain shifter, gapping, and modulated by the Im also better sample.

The JFK track I only use a little delay so you can hear the theremin more.

Unfortunately, that rule of thumb has led people to mistake the noise in 'Good Vibrations' for being a theremin, the noise in the Star Trek theme for being one. . . and countless other slidy noises.
